Fantasy Football: Week 4 Value Picks
Added on Sep 29, 2011 by Scott in
Mounting injuries continue to make life challenging for fantasy football owners. In deeper leagues, it’s more and more imperative to work trades and the waiver wire in order to secure depth. Depending on how bad the injury bug has struck, you may find yourself looking at the end of the bench to fill out your Week 4 starting lineup. Here are some value picks worth consideration,
Josh Freeman (vs. IND) – Freeman hasn’t quite lived up to the draft day hype thus far with only two touchdown passes and four interceptions. The Colts defense has been average versus the pass, ranking 18th. However, both Colt McCoy and Ben Roethlisberger posted serviceable numbers. Don’t expect miracles on Monday night, but if your hurting at quarterback, Freeman is a decent option.
James Starks (@ DEN) – The Green Bay backfield is a fluid situation. Two weeks ago it looked like Starks was the man. Then Ryan Grant rushed for 92 yards against the Bears prompting head coach Mike McCarthy to declare he’ll get more playing time. Now Grant has a bruised kidney that will sideline him on Sunday. This leaves Starks to receive the bulk of the carries against a vulnerable Broncos defense. The Packers will throw and throw, but 80 yards and a touchdown is within reach.
Denarious Moore (vs. NE) – The Patriots rank 32nd versus the pass. Moore has scored in consecutive weeks and is clearly Jason Campbell’s best threat. The speedy rookie should be able to find room to roam in the secondary, especially if the Raiders are playing catchup. He makes an excellent choice to plug in as a number three wide receiver or a flex option.
Randy McMichael (vs. MIA) – Antonio Gates’ owners should grab McMichael immediately if they’re weak at tight end. Gates will likely miss significant time while nursing his ailing foot. The Dolphins have been exploited by tight ends in all three losses, yielding three touchdowns. McMichael caught four balls for 51 yards in Week 3. Those numbers should improve on Sunday.
Redskins D/ST (@ STL) – The Rams have been outscored 96-36. They’ve also given up a defensive touchdown in all three games. The Redskins have been stingy, allowing only 17.6 points per game. Steven Jackson and Danny Amendola could return for St. Louis, but neither will do much damage.
