Week 4 Injury Report
Added on Oct 03, 2011 by Scott in
As the pretenders and contenders begin to create distance between each other, injuries continue to mount. A handful of preseason favorites are being hit hardest, but none of the 32 franchises have been immune to losing key players. Here’s the list of the latest bumps, bruises, breaks and tears.
Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) – Big Ben left Houston wearing a walking boot on his left foot. Reports are he suffered a sprain. His status for Week 5 is unknown, although he played on a broken right foot in 2010, so odds are he’ll be on the field. However, if the Steelers offensive line doesn’t improve quickly, he might not last much longer.
Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers) – A strained hamstring forced Mendenhall from Sunday’s game in the second half. Depending on the severity, he could be fine or he could miss three weeks. Hamstrings are never predictable.
James Harrison (Steelers) – The All-Pro linebacker took a shot to the eye and spent most of the fourth quarter on the sideline. No further updates were available after the game.
Andre Johnson (Texans) – Johnson collapsed in a heap in the second quarter and sat out the second half with an injured right hamstring. Again, how long he’ll be shelved is unknown.
Gerald Sensabaugh (Cowboys) – The Cowboys starting safety was diagnosed with a concussion. Until he passes the league mandated baseline tests, he won’t be cleared to play.
Trent Cole (Eagles) – Head coach Andy Reid called it a “significant calf strain.” Reports are it’s a 2 to 4 week injury.
Jason Peters (Eagles) – Head coach Andy Reid called it a “significant hamstring strain.” It doesn’t sound like he’ll be back anytime soon.
Antonio Dixon (Eagles) – The defensive tackle is done for the season with a torn triceps.
Chris Hope (Titans) – The starting safety suffered a broken arm. It’s not known whether he’ll need surgery to fix the fracture.
Joe Haden (Browns) -Sprained left knee. Will undergo an MRI today.
Chad Henne (Dolphins) – The Dolphins signal caller went down with a left shoulder injury. He expects to play again this season, but could be out several weeks.
Jerod Mayo (Patriots) – A sprained MCL could keep him sidelined up to six weeks.
Vincent Jackson (Chargers) – Left the game with a leg injury after catching three passes for 108 yards. He returned in the second half, but appeared to be limited.
Bryan Thomas (Jets) – Exited the Sunday nighter with a sprained left ankle. Will undergo further tests to determine the severity.
