Ochocinco Tweet Angers Tedy Bruschi

Despite being a complete non-factor on Monday night, Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco still managed to make headlines this week. In the aftermath of Tom Brady’s record-setting 517 yards passing performance, Ocho took to Twitter to marvel at what he witnessed. Well, ex-Patriot linebacker Tedy Bruschi was none too pleased with the tweet and had no problem voicing his displeasure.
The offending tweet went as follows:
“Just waking up after a late arrival, I’ve never seen a machine operate like that n person, to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW.”
Seems innocent enough. However, Bruschi — a three-time Super Bowl champion — thinks Ocho should spend a little more time learning the playbook and less time behaving like a starstruck fan.
“Get with the program because obviously you’re not getting it and you’re tweeting because you’re saying, ‘It’s amazing to see’? It’s amazing to see because you don’t understand it. You still don’t understand it and it’s amazing to you because you can’t get it.
Wake up! If you’re just waking up now — I don’t know when this was, six minutes ago? — get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think it’s amazing. If you’re in it and you know what you’re doing and you execute out there, you don’t think it’s amazing. You know why? Because it’s what you’re supposed to do.”
Ocho had one catch for 14 yards on Monday night. It’s been reported he’s had problems absorbing the complex Patriots playbook, due in part to the abbreviated offseason.
The always unflappable Brady and head coach Bill Belichick declined to take the bait when asked about Ocho’s Twitter antics. Instead, Belichick reiterated the philosophy that has won him a trio of titles.
“The only statistic I care about is the final score, and that’s what our goal is. I know everyone else wants to talk about and write about individual stats, what each individual’s production is, but really I’m concerned about the team success. That’s the way it’ll always be.”
Reading between the lines: whether Chad catches ten balls or none, as long as the Pats win, the controversial wide receiver will remain under Belichick’s radar.
New England hosts the 1-0 Chargers on Sunday.
