UFC On Versus: Marquardt Off Card/Cut By Dana White And Full Weigh In Results
Added on Jun 26, 2011 by John Petit in
A whirl wind day today in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. The day started with a bizarre tweet from the manager of Charlie Brenneman tweeted a message, he quickly deleted, that said he had been moved up to the main card. This confused everybody, as earlier in the week Charlie’s opponent was forced off the card altogether. About an hour before the weigh ins were supposed to be held it was announced that the Main Event was scratched because Nate Marquardt did not get cleared by the athletic commission, and the only reason announced so far is failed medicals. Charlie Brenneman was then put in place of Marquardt, and the Cheick Kongo/Pat Barry fight was moved to the main event.
As if that wasn’t a wild enough afternoon, shortly after the weigh ins, Dana White released a video on twitter stating what we already knew. He also said in the video that not only was Nate off the card all together, but he was immediately cut by the UFC. White didn’t say anything as to the reasons why he was being cut, but then later said we would all find out tomorrow. Also related, the Athletic Commission released a statement that said they would be making a statement tomorrow at 4 pm Est. about why they did not approve Nate for the fight.
