Strikeforce Card Curse?

Strikeforce St. Louis, Henderson Vs. Babalu has take a few hits this week on the main card. In the middle of last week we heard rumors, and then it was confirmed that Herschel Walker would not be fighting. He had a highly questionable fight scheduled with Scott Carson, who had one fight in ten years-he was KO’d in 2 minutes, but Walker was forced off the card. Walker sustained a cut, and it will not be healed in time for the fight. Now it looks like Valentijn Overeem will not be making fight against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. MMAWeekly has reported that Overeem has been injured in training and will not be making the fight. In case you didn’t notice, YES he is related to Allistar Overeem, who is currently the Heavyweight Strikeforce Champion.

Ken Shamrock

Shocking Shamrock News. By shocking, I mean not shocking at all. Ken Shamrock loses another fight because of his knees. King of the Cage held an event in South Africa last week, where Ken Shamrock fought Mike Bourke in the main event. Ken’s knee seemingly blew out part way through the second round, and Bourke was awarded the TKO win. Ken won his last fight, via Unanimous Decision(that no one saw,) but was annihilated by Pedro Rizzo and some viscous leg kicks that ended the first round in 3 minutes at Impact FC. Ken is two and seven since 2005. I think he needs to stop trying to get himself killed.

UFC Ins and Outs.

There was rumors of UFC fighter Matt Brown was going to be axed from the UFC after his third straight loss at UFC 123. I can safely say this is not the case, and Matt will get another chance in Octagon. The UFC has confirmed that.

UFC middleweight Rousimar Palhares has reportedly signed a new four-fight contract with the UFC. Last time we saw Palhares he was TKO’d by Nate Marquardt, as Palhares was trying to get the refs attention for “Nate’s legs being slick.” He has since apologized for the event that happened, but now you can expect him to be eyeballing a rematch with Marquardt.

Gerald Harris was not so lucky. Although he was involved in a not so exciting third round, Harris Lost to Falcao, and was cut from the roster. This is a shock as Harris only has one loss with the promotion. Expect to see Harris Back.

Ian Loveland will replace Leonard Garcia and face Tyler Toner at TUF 12 Finale. Garcia suffered an undisclosed injury during training. Garcia was to be one of the first two WEC fighters to come to the UFC and fight before the merger. Now those two will be Loveland and Toner. Garcia has fought in the UFC before, but was invited to the WEC because he was much too light for the 155lb UFC division.

Akiyama

Finally, Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama is now on the cover of Maxim Magazine from Korea. I didn’t even know Korea had its own Maxim, and I certainly didn’t know Maxim put men on the cover of their magazine. Lets hope Akiyama’s picture will give North Koreans something to do besides shoot RPG’s at the south.
