MMA Mailbag: Mayhem To The UFC, Jon Jones Out, Watch All Of UFC 129

Time for another MMA Mailbag as I received a lot of questions about some of the happenings in MMA this weekend, and today. As always, if you have any questions for the mailbag, hit my up on twitter at www.twitter.com/scream13 .
Did Jason “Mayhem” Miller sign a contract to fight in the UFC?
Yes, He did. Many were sending in questions about what would happen to Miller after he was scheduled to fight on March 5 against Tim Kennedy. The fight was mysteriously canceled, and Kennedy was given another opponent. The 24-7(1 NC) Miller only fought twice in 2010, and thats mainly because of a 3 month suspension he was given for his actions in what is now know as the “Nashville Strikeforce Brawl.” Miller’s last loss in Strikeforce came by decision from now number 1 welterweight contender Jake Shields.
Miller, who has garnered a huge fan base with his MTV show “Bully Beatdown,” is scheduled to face Aaron Simpson at UFC 132 in Las Vegas. Simpson had a rough 2010, where he lost two of his 3 matches, but he is coming off of a decision win over Mario Miranda.
Many are unaware, but Mayhem already has one fight in the UFC. Mayhem lost to Georges St. Pierre via Decision at UFC 52 in 2005 in Vegas.
Is it confirmed that Jon Jones will not be fighting at UFC 133 against Rashad Evans?
Yes, The story broke this morning when it was announced that Jon Jones will be OFF the card because of an injury to his hand. I heard he had a small thumb surgery, and will be out till late 2011, but I can’t confirm the last part(so for now lets mark that up to rumor.)
Rashad Evans has taken another fight, and is slated to go against another rising light heavyweight star Phil Davis. There has been some speculation that this may be an interim title match, but since no one really knows what happened to Jone’s at this point and how long he will be out for, I am assuming it will just be a number 1 contenders match.
If you remember correctly, Rashad had voluntarily taken time off because he was next in line for the title. When Rashad was hurt, his training partner Jon Jones took the fight, and defeated Mauricio Shogun Rua. The two had already said they would never fight each other, but all that changed with a few comments Jones made to some media about not being able to turn down an opportunity like being champion. The point I am trying to make here, It seem Evans doesn’t want to wait around any longer and wants to get back in Octagon.
I read that the whole UFC 129 card will be televised, is this true?
Sort of. Yes, you will be able to watch UFC 129 in its entirety, but it won’t all be on television. UFC 129 will have the 5 main card fights on the pay per view, they will have 2 preliminary fights on SpikeTV, and the UFC has announced that via their facebook page you can watch the remaining fights as they happen live.
This is a historical card, and people should make an effort to watch it. Not only is it stacked from top to bottom, but it will be taking place in a stadium with 55 thousand Canadians in attendance. When all is said and done, UFC 129 will go down as the biggest Mixed Martial Arts card to ever happen on North American Soil.
