Josh Koscheck to Be The Most Hated Man In Montreal On Dec. 11

First reported by the continually more popular Ariel Helwani, UFC 124, which is headlined by Georges St. Pierre’s title defense against Josh Koscheck, will take place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It will be the UFC’s second trip to Montreal, the first being UFC 113.
St. Pierre is easily the most popular mixed martial artist in Canada. And, even easier, he is the best. It’s a given that he will have the Canadian crowd on his side no matter who he fights.
It is also a given that Josh Koscheck plays the role of villain in basically any fight he’s in, but for this match, it’s clear he’ll be pulling out all the stops. Particularly evidenced by his in-cage post-fight interview following his title eliminator win over Paul Daley, which took place in Montreal.
Responding to the crowd’s boos, Koscheck shouted, “Hey, don’t worry. The Pittsburgh Penguins are going to kick your ass next week, baby! Yeaaa! And then I’m going to beat St. Pierre, so you guys are gonna lose twice. How ’bout that? Yea, that’s right Montreal.”
Now, I don’t know if any of you know a Canadian hockey fan, but they’re some of the most loyal and crazy sports fans in the world. This was one week before the Eastern Conference semi-finals between Pittsburgh and Montreal. It’s no wonder why Koscheck was flown back to the states immediately after the fight.
Now, Koscheck will have a weekly stage to irritate St. Pierre fans, as both fighters will occupy the role of opposing coaches in Spike TV’s hit reality show, The Ultimate Fighter. At the conclusion of the show, the two will meet against each other in Montreal in front of what is sure to be an unruly mob of Koscheck haters.
Certainly, this can’t help the public perception of Koscheck’s chances in this fight, which are seen as dismal.
