Dana White Has Some Harsh Words For Marquardt And Greg Jackson
Added on Nov 16, 2010 by John Petit in
Dana White had some harsh words for former UFC contender Nate Marquardt after UFC 122, and he has continued his rant to incorporate his entire fight team. Some consider Greg Jackson to be one of the best in the MMA game, but Dana White is not on of those guys.
He told Fighters Only magazine “You see this happen now consistently with the Greg Jackson camp. These guys, I don’t know if they are told they are winning the fight or in their minds they are winning the fight going into the last round, and its not true. Its like an ‘avoid the fight because we think we are winning’ thing with that camp, I don’t give a shit what the internet says or what anybody else says, I look at fights the way that I see them and say what I think. There is absolutely a one hundred percent consistency in that with the Greg Jackson camp.”
As I mentioned yesterday, I thought they were both fighting very cautiously because of the high stakes. Okami wasn’t exactly in the cage throwing hay makers the whole fight, but he was doing more then enough to win him rounds. White continued “Its one thing to be cautious but when you know that you’ve already lost a shot at the title once, and then in the third round you’re getting out struck by the wrestler, you might want to let your hands and legs go. When your corner is yelling to you to let your kicks go and you don’t go for it…you’re in that situation and you don’t go for broke?”
When Chael Sonnen tested positive for steroids he really through a wrench in the division. However, it was said that the winner of this fight would get the winner of Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort. Another important thing to bring up is that Okami was promised the title fight before, but at the end of the day he was skipped. Dana squashed anyones comments that He would get skipped again. “We go out there and put together the fights that we think are the best fights and guys who deserve it and have fought their way there. Okami was supposed to get this title shot before, he was injured and he couldn’t get it. Now he beat Nate Marquardt to get it. No matter what Nate did or didn’t do tonight, Okami won the fight and deserves his shot.”
We will not know when the fight will take place until the outcome of the Silva vs. Belfort which will happen at UFC 126. The event will take place on February 5, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. If the winner comes out healthy we could see the match up with Yushin Okami as soon as April or May.

With the possible exception of his endless stream of f-bombs that could be the most pathetic thing about Dana–how he runs around acting like a tough guy. I enjoy MMA but having to watch and listen to Dana White is by far the worst thing about the sport.
