While you can’t bet on Super Bowl action legally in Dallas it does offer a variety of other entertainment options for discerning adults that you won’t find in most sportsbooks.  The area is well known as one of the top markets for ‘gentlemen’s clubs’–that’s the fancy term for ‘strip clubs’–in the United States.  And while the overall impact on the economy and job market in North Texas remains to be seen, the Super Bowl is clearly providing a boost to one segment of the marketplace–the areas’ strip clubs are desperate for more strippers…er….’exotic dancers’ to fill the demand expected during the week before the game.

TMZ is reporting that Dallas area strip clubs are more than doubling their staff of dancers for Super Bowl week.  The article quoted John Walsh, who runs the Showtime Cabaret, saying that while he employees approximately 50 dancers throughout the year he’s looking for another 100 to 120 just for the Super Bowl weekend festivities.  Walsh also suggests that the 60 or so adult entertainment businesses in the area will be needing at least that many additional dancers, if not more.  A larger club, like the Silver City Club, employees around 400 dancers year round and could need several hundred short term performers. All told, Walsh speculated that an extra 10,000 exotic dancers could be needed immediately to work Super Bowl weekend making this one of the most severe stripper supply emergencies is recent history.

The Dallas media has had a variety of articles in the past few days questioning whether the promised economic benefit to the area would indeed materialize.  Some suggest that it’s been slower than expected, while others have suggested that some outlying communities are seeing more benefit than others.  If the market for strippers and other forms of adult entertainment in the area are any indication, the North Texas area could end up enjoying a windfall from Super Bowl XLV.
