Pronger Day-To-Day
The Philadelphia Flyers were all hoping that defenseman Chris Pronger would be able to start the playoffs, but General Manager Paul Holmgrem announced via twitter that he will be considered day to day.
Earlier in the week, Pronger was very positive earlier in the week that he would be set to play against the Buffalo Sabres, but his hand injury will stop him from dong that. Altogether this season, Pronger has only skated for 50 games. He had a foot injury earlier in the season, and now with the hand injury he has now missed 32 games. Pronger injured his hand, and played with it a few games, but on march 14 he had surgery on it to fix the break. Without Pronger, the Flyers have gone 16-9-7, and the defending Eastern Conference champions won the Atlantic Division and earned the No. 2 seed in the conference.
Damphousse Charged With Domestic Violence
Former Montreal Canadien Vincent Damphousse was charged with 6 counts of domestic violence against his wife Allana Henderson. The 43 year old, and former captain of Montreal, wasn’t in court today when the charges were handed down. The six charges in total all stem from incidences that took place between 2008 and 2011.
The news came as a surprise to many Canadien fans because of the charity work both Damphousse and Henderson were a part of. Both were known for being spokespersons of the ALS Society of Quebec. They were even made honorary lifetime members to recognize all the work they have done for the foundation. Damphousse played in 519 games with the Canadiens, and ended with 498 points with 184 goals and 314 assists. Damphousse is due back in court in July.
