Pavelec returned to the ice today for open skater after fainting, and hitting his head on the ice. Pavelec, and the Thrashers, were all happy to see him back in pads and making a few saves. Pavelec commented after the open skate “I was excited to get back and see how it would go, Everything was pretty good. … I felt good. It will take a while to get back in game shape. I can’t say when I’ll be back. I’ll have to take my time.”

Pavelec described the night to the press: “The last thing I remember in the national anthem until I woke up in the ambulance, They did all testing for my brain and my heart, They said I just fainted. It’s nothing serious and … they said I’m ready to go.” He concluded “I had headaches for three or four days, but now they are all gone, I’m no doctor, but they say I just fainted, They said there are so many reasons it could have happened, but they couldn’t find it. “It was the first time that it happened and hopefully it will never happen again,” Pavelec said. “It could have been worse if I was driving or something.”

Coach Ramsey also chimed in “It was good to see him out there, We were just trying to get him some work and a sweat, and Let him find out where he is (in his recovery). I’m sure it felt good to get his equipment on again and face some shots. Every player will tell you is hard to sit on the bench.”

As we reported on sportsbettingworld.com, The Atlanta Thrashers had quite a scare during there recent game with the Washington Capitals. While the puck was in the Capitals zone, Ondrej Pavelec collapsed on the ice. The fact that this happened behind the play seemed to make it even more startling. Also, when Pavelec collapsed he knocked his head hard on the ice, rendering him unconscious. Medical staff immediately ran to his aid, and Pavelec was eventually taken off the ice on a stretcher. That was the last thing anyone wanted to see.

Pavelec eventually regained consciousness on his way the hospital, and seemed to be in good spirits. After a battery of tests on his blood and his brain, it was determined he had neurocardiogenic syncope episode, or basically a fainting spell.

The three and two Thrashers had a rough star to the season, but have won there last two games. Chris Mason has filled in for Pavelec since the injury. He made 37 saves and picked up the win for the second consecutive night, this time facing 39 shots on goal. Mason stopped all 27 shots he faced in the second and third period against the Sharks.
