NHL On Price Is Right, Best Bench Clearing Brawl of 2010(vid), The Leafs Get The Waffles

Sidney Crosby, COME ON DOWN!-Turns out there will be an NHL invasion of Price is Right next week. Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, and NHL great Jeremy Roenick.
The idea is that the three NHL stars will introduce, or be part of a prize presentation on the show. Along with Host Drew Carey, they will be unveiling a showcase that features tickets to watch the outdoor game, VIP passes to the NHL’s New Year’s Eve bash and ice-level access during the practices at Heinz Field on Dec. 31. I sure hope the winner is a hockey fan, or wants to unload their prize pack on me for the handsome sum of no dollars.
Nottingham Panthers v Coventry Blaze this happened in April of this year, but its my candidate for bench clearing brawl of 2010. Watch as the whole ice turns into mayhem. I posted the raw video below , but there is a short version on youtube. Even the announcer turns into a director to make sure you see all the action.
Waffles Leafs fans? Thats what you chose to throw at your team? I think the ice is sacred, and the only allowed over the glass is a hat in homage, but a waffle? Colby Armstrong and the Toronto Maple Leafs were leaving the ice after a 4-1 thumping by the Flyers when the rain of breakfast treats started. Only Armstrong is really taking it personally, and he really wanted to know what kind of person shows up with a pocket full of waffles at the arena. “Had we won the game, he was going home with soggy waffles so, I don’t know. Whatever. I don’t appreciate it really, a guy throwing waffles at me when I’m skating by. We’re trying to make light of it in here. Throw a T-bone. Spend some money. Throw a fillet.”
Defenseman Luke Schenn felt you may have some mental problems if you’re throwing breakfast snacks on the ice. He said “If you’re bringing waffles to a game, maybe you have issues of your own. Maybe they were blueberry waffles, chocolate chip, who knows? It was definitely a first.”
Captain Dion Phaneuf said he had never heard of such a thing, he said after the incident “That’s the first I’ve heard of it. I’ve seen lots of stuff thrown out on the ice, but I didn’t even see it so I can’t comment on it. I’ve never seen a waffle, no. I’m not commenting on it.” I think you just did Phaneuf…I think you just did. This must be some kind syrup joke, or maybe some jaskass just had waffles with him. Who knows what they do in Canada.

I’d like to see waffle throwing become a league wide tradition. And if you’re going to go with a ‘Price Is Right’ pic you gotta go old school and represent the legendary ‘Silver Fox’ aka Bob Barker!
