Some argue that being a forward in the NHL is all about lighting the lamp and scoring goals, and some even criticize Henrik Sedin for not shooting as much as the other forwards. After Henrik’s 4 assist game, he would like you to find a new complaint about him. According to Alex Burrows, one of them was so good that he didn’t even have to do anything but have his stick on the ice. Burrows said “I didn’t even see that one and it went in so that tells you how good of a pass it was. I lost sight of it. Good thing my stick was on the ice and it was just able to go off my blade and into the net.”

That is the type of play Henrik Sedin is capable of, and even his twin brother is saying the rest really did him some good. Daniel Sedin jokingly asked the media why they think Henrik should shoot more when he passes like that? He inquired “He’s been criticized for not shooting and he showed why he shouldn’t shoot. He should pass instead. It was awesome.” Daniel supported the decision of giving Henrik some rest, and now the whole team is reaping the rewards. He concluded “I think he needed some time off and it paid off. He’s playing a lot better now and it shows. He’s more confident, too. I think (the rest) did good for him.”

Henrik secured himself a Canucks playoff record 4 assists to help Vancouver go up 3 games to 1 over the Sharks. He now leads the NHL in playoff points with 19, and ten of those came in 4 games against San Jose. Prior to this series, he only had 4 points against Nashville, and 5 against Chicago in a total of 13 games. The slump drew the attention of analysts, and many speculated that he must be dealing with some sort of injury. Henrik dodged a question about how he felt out there, and said they have to be focused on what is happening right now. He said “We’re living in the moment now. We’re in this series. We’re looking forward to the next game. We don’t have to look back at other series. This is where we are.”

One of the reporters wasn’t sure if that was a pass or a shot on goal that lead to Burrows’ goal, and both Alex and Henrik corrected him. Burrows said “Thats the kind of player he is, He’s able to make those quality passes all over the ice and he has a great awareness of where everybody is. He is able to give it to you backhand, forehand, saucer, through legs, everything.” Henrik backed up what Burrows said and put an end to the line of questioning, he said “I was looking for Burr all the way. I had nothing left but to sneak through (Niemi’s) five-hole.”

The Canucks head home with a two game lead, and a chance to finish this off in front of their fans. I can promise you the whole city of Vancouver will be shaking if they secure the series on Tuesday night.
