Goalie Brian Boucher and the Philadelphia Flyers handed the New Jersey Devils their 11 straight loss in a 2-1 win on Saturday night. Boucher stopped 34 shots, and James van Riemsdyk and Danny Briere each scored to lead the Flyers to a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Boucher said he just wants to get back into the play offs, as last year he was injured, and couldn’t play in the Stanley Cup finals. He said “We’ve just carried over what we did last year in the playoffs. Our goal this year was to put ourselves in better position come spring time. We’ve done a good job thus far, but there’s still a lot of work to do.”

They have done a good enough job to earn their coach the head coaching slot as the head coach for the Western Conference. Flyers coach Peter Laviolette, who will be facing Chicago coach Joe Quenneville in the game, said after the game “It’ll be fun. I’ve never been to one before,”

After the Flyers scored two quick goals, the Devils replaced Johan Hedberg with Martin Brodeur. Brodeur had been benched for the last three games. After trading Jammie Langenbrunner early in the week, everyone is expecting more changes in New Jersey. Brodeur said they know they are coming, and is shocked at the slump they are in. “I’m as shocked as anybody. When you look at what we brought to the lineup on paper, nobody expected it. Now, it’s hit home it’s going be a battle for us the rest of the season.” As far as the three game lay off, Brodeur said it was something he needed. He concluded “I know it’s only been a week, but it seemed like a long time for me. It’s been good taking a step back, to work on my game, not focus on the atmosphere of losing every day and getting it out of my head.”

As the Flyers get 26 wins in the fastest time in club history, The Devils are one loss away from 12 straight. Its something they haven’t done since 1983, and they hit the halfway point of the season at 10-29-2 for a League-low 22 points. New Jersey coach Jacques Lemaire felt they played well when you consider the type of team the Flyers are this year. “We’re making progress. I think it’s a good game we played tonight, They really tried to get back and tie it at the end. We did a lot of good things. You know, the guys, they never stopped and this is what we’re working on. It would be nice to get a point just to feel good about our work, but it didn’t happen.”

The Philadelphia Flyers (26-10-5,57pts), who are now 1st in the Atlantic Division, will face the Buffalo Sabers (18-18-5, 41pts) on Tuesday night away. The new Jersey Devils (10-29-2,22pts), who are now 5th in Atlantic Division, will face the Tampa Bay Lightening (25-12-5, 55pts) at home tonight.
