Malkin Out Against The Devils

Pittsburgh Penguins announced Wednesday that Evngi Malkin will miss Thursdays game against the Devils. Coach Dan Bylsma announced the undisclosed injury, and this will be the first time Malkin and Crosby will both be missing from the line up. Bylsma said “Malkin will not be going on the trip with us for Thursday’s game. He’s not feeling well and getting evaluated.”

Many are assuming the injury is to be the left knee, but no one is talking. There is no arguing that Malkin is a key part of the Penguins, but he hasn’t scored in 6 games. Right now Malkin has 15 goals and 22 assists in 42 games for Pittsburgh.

Jarome Iginla Will Miss All Star Game

Calgary Flames’ captain Jarome Iginla has announced he will not be making it to the NHL All-Star festivities. Iginla released a statement through the team Wednesday that said he plans to be with Frances Schuchard Jan. 28-30, when the NHL is holding its All-Star Weekend in Raleigh, N.C.

Iginla has said in the past that his maternal grandparents were second parents to him growing, and that they have been very close his whole life. His grandfather Richard Schuchard died last May. The 33-year-old Iginla has a goal and two assists in five All-Star games (2002, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009) and was named the Western Conference captain in 2008.

Rangers: Brandon Dubinsky and Ruslan Fedotenko To Miss Weeks

The New York Rangers are already dealing with a mountain of injuries, and in 48 hours they have added two more to the list. The Rangers have stated that both Brandon Dubinsky and Ruslan Fedotenko will be out of the starting line up for several weeks.

A few hours before their 7-0 routing of the Maple Leafs, it was announced that Dubinsky would be missing the game, and would be evaluated. Dubinsky, who has a team high of 17 goals and 38 points, was given an MRI and the results were bad news. Apparently Dubinsky was examined by team doctor Andrew Feldman earlier in the day, and an MRI and bone scan revealed the fracture in his left fibula.

After the game against the Maple Leafs, Rangers coach John Tortorella said Fedotenko is expected to miss two to four weeks because of a sprained left shoulder. Fedotenko was injured half way into the second period, when he was hit by Toronto defenseman Mike Komisarek that he really didn’t see coming. He skated off the ice, with his arm hanging, and never came back to the ice to skate.

New York recalled forwards Chad Kolarik and Brodie Dupont from Connecticut of the AHL to fill in for Dubinsky and Fedotenko. The team will begin a three-game trip Thursday night at Carolina.

The Rangers are already scrambling with injuries. They are already without Ryan Callahan, Vinny Prospal, and Erik Christensen for the foreseeable future. Alex Frolov Has already been ruled out for the rest of the season.
