Patrice Bergeron Skating With Teammates

Patrice Bergeron is back skating with the Boston Bruins for the third straight day, but as of right now the Bruins are only calling progress. Bergeron suffered from a concussion 10 days ago, and has not skated in a game sense. Today marked the first day that he skated in drills with his team mates, but mum is the word as to when he might be back. Certainly skating is a big step, but the Bruins could use their number 2 center in game two.

Boston coach Claude Julien said right now they are focusing on the health of Bergeron, and just following the steps they need in order to get him cleared to come back to the ice. He said “As I said the other day, we’re going through the protocol of what he has to go through and there’s not much more to update you guys on, except that I think when he is ready to go, you guys will know it. It’s just something that you can’t predict how quickly or how slow it’s going to be. It’s just one of those situations where right now you see him going through what you saw him going through today, skating. But that’s protocol. And right now we’re not ready to make any comments because he’s just going through those stages.”

Bergeron will most likely be a game time decision, but no one is planning on him playing yet.

Boogaard’s Donated To Boston University

Derek Boogaard’s brain has been donated to the Boston University School of Medicine, according to Ron Salcer who was Boogaard’s agent for his career. Although many are attributing Boogaards’ death to the concussion that sidelined him, no cause of death has been determined and won’t be for weeks to come. Needles to say, that doesn’t make this decision any less selfless and admirable. Salcer said “It’s an amazing thing he did and his family did. Hopefully, that’ll bring some information. We don’t know exactly the impact that the concussions might have played.” A funeral is planned for Saturday in Regina, Saskatchewan, but family, friends and teammates gathered for a memorial at the Xcel Energy Center where they remembered Boogaard. The memroial was impromptu, and sprouted into existence via a memorial facebook page. Also, before each series started for the conference finals, the stadiums held a moment of silence for their fallen friend.

Flyers And Rangers To Play In 2012 Winter Classic

According to ESPN The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers will face off in the 2012 Winter Classic. As it looks right now, the Flyers will host the Rangers on January 2nd at Citizens Bank Park. The Flyers wanted to have the game at Lincoln Financial Field, but were unable to because the Philadelphia Eagles are slated to host the Washington Redskins there on New Year’s Day, assuming there’s no NFL lockout.

None of this is official, and no announcement if they will be filming another 30 for 30 documentary on the competing teams.
