Week 6 Injury Report
Added on Oct 17, 2011 by Scott in
The bumps, bruises and breaks continue to mount for several NFL teams. It was so bad in Week 6 that the injury bug spread to a pair of NFC South coaches. Saints head coach Sean Payton tore the MCL and broke the tibia in his left leg after a collision with tight end Jimmy Graham, and Bucs secondary coach Jimmy Lake tore a patellar tendon while celebrating an interception. Here’s the rest of the hurt list.
Jason Campbell (Raiders) – The Raiders quarterback will miss two months and possibly the remainder of the season after breaking his right collarbone in the second quarter against Cleveland. Kyle Boller took over and finished 8-14 for 100 yards.
Jahvid Best (Lions) – Another concussion, his second of the year, could sideline him at least one week. Best has a history of concussions, so it’s worth monitoring.
Sam Bradford (Rams) – X-rays were negative on Bradford’s sprained ankle, but depending on how he responds this week will depend on whether or not he misses any time.
Troy Polamalu (Steelers) – The all-world safety exited Sunday’s win over the Jaguars with concussion-like symptoms. Reports out of Pittsburgh are it’s not considered to be serious.
Doug Legursky (Steelers) – More offensive line trouble for the Steelers. The starting right guard suffered a dislocated toe. His availability for Week 7 is in doubt.
Felix Jones (Cowboys) – The oft-injured runner went down with a high ankle sprain. He’s also still dealing with a separated shoulder.
Bill Nagy (Cowboys) – The rookie left guard broke his right ankle and will probably be sidelined the rest of the year. An already thin offensive line just got thinner.
Peyton Hillis (Browns) – The Madden cover boy will undergo an MRI later today on his ailing hamstring. Through four games, he has 212 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Jeff Faine (Bucs) – A biceps injury forced Faine from Sunday’s win over New Orleans. He’ll be reevaluated later today.
Chris Cooley (Redskins) – The perpetually injured tight end will need surgery on a fractured left index finger. How long he’ll be sidelined is yet to be determined.
Kory Lichtensteiger (Redskins) – The starting left guard is done for the season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee.
Trent Williams (Redskins) – A high ankle sprain ended his day early against Philadelphia. His availability this week is unknown.
Sam Shields (Packers) – He left in the third quarter with a head injury after colliding with Rams wide receiver Brandon Gibson. According to head coach Mike McCarthy, Shields will be further evaluated today.
