Another Sunday down means a new list of bruised and broken bodies in NFL training rooms across the country. Some may argue that suffering injuries early in the season is better than late, but the truth is there is never a good time to be hit with the bug. It’s the teams that dig deep and overcome the losses that will be left standing at the end of the season. Here’s the latest news on those who are hurting.

Jake Locker (Titans) – The second-year quarterback didn’t last long on Sunday. Texans safety Glover Quin drilled Locker on a blitz in the first quarter, aggravating the left shoulder injury that has bothered him since Week 1. No word on the severity, but rumors are swirling Locker’s season, or majority of it, could be over.

Santonio Holmes (Jets) – More bad news for the Jets. A week after losing Darrelle Revis for the season, wide receiver Santonio Holmes was carted from the field with a foot injury. X-rays were negative, but a scheduled MRI could reveal more extensive damage. A Lisfranc sprain would likely end his year.

Michael Vick (Eagles) – Any sort of a limp or wince will be magnified out of proportion when Mike Vick is the one afflicted. He was spotted gimping off the field late Sunday night with what head coach Andy Reid called a “knee contusion.” He should be ready to go in Week 5. Maybe.

Kenny Phillips (Giants) – The Giants secondary has been decimated since August. The latest key member to go down is Kenny Phillips, who sprained a knee in last night’s loss to the Eagles. Big Blue is accustomed to playing shorthanded, but even they have to be shaking their heads at this point.

Greg Jennings (Packers) – Another week means another injury for Jennings. The same groin that has plagued him for a month flared up again yesterday. He exited the game in the first half and didn’t return. No word on how much time, if any, he’ll miss.

Dont’a Hightower (Patriots) – The rookie linebacker’s day ended early with a strained hamstring. It’s not considered serious, although the recovery period for hamstrings can be tricky to predict.

Scott Chandler (Bills) – The giant tight end caught a pair of touchdowns versus the Pats, then exited after banging his head. It’s yet to be called a concussion, but further tests are expected.
