Week 11 Injury Report
Added on Nov 21, 2011 by Scott in
As the temperatures fall the amount of injuries continue to rise. With teams angling for playoff positions now is not the time to lose key players for multiple games, but several contenders are facing that very scenario after a brutal Sunday that saw a handful of big names leave the field wincing in pain. Without further ado, here’s the list of Week 10 bumps and breaks.
Adrian Peterson (Vikings) – It didn’t look promising after AP’s left ankle was twisted on the Metrodome turf. However, the good news is X-rays confirmed no fractures. He will undergo an MRI today to determine the extent of the damage. If it’s not a high ankle sprain, he could be ready for Week 12.
Jay Cutler (Bears) – Cutler played arguably his best game of the season in disposing of the Chargers, but a broken right thumb could end his season. Surgery is required and he could be out 6 to 8 weeks, although no timetable has been confirmed. Bottom line: it’s bad news for the 7-3 Bears.
Terrence McGee (Bills) – McGee is done for the season after tearing his left patella tendon.
Fred Jackson (Bills) – Jackson exited the blowout loss to Miami with a strained right calf. He was reportedly “very sore” this morning. His availability for Week 12 is unclear.
Matt Hasselbeck (Titans) – A strained right elbow ended his day in the second half. Rookie Jake Locker took over and could get his first career start versus Tampa Bay if Hasselbeck doesn’t improve by Sunday.
Shonn Greene (Jets) – There hasn’t been an update on Greene who was forced out of last Thursday’s loss to Denver with bruised ribs. With LaDainian Tomlinson already hobbled, the floundering Jets can ill afford to lose their top runner.
Darrius Heyward-Bey (Raiders) – Scary day for DHB who went down with a spinal injury. Head coach Hue Jackson thinks he’ll be able to return this season, but don’t count on it.
Trent Williams (Redskins) – An MRI will determine if the MCL in his left knee is torn. Williams, who already sat out three games with a sprained ankle, just can’t seem to stay healthy.
Dan Williams (Cardinals) – A broken right arm will end the defensive tackle’s season.
James Starks (Packers) – Further tests have been ordered on his sprained right knee. It’s doubtful he’ll be ready to go for Green Bay’s key Thanksgiving showdown at Detroit.
DeSean Jackson (Eagles) – The enigmatic wide receiver left in a walking boot after having his right foot stepped on, although he’s expected to be okay for the Week 12 matchup against the Patriots.
