Buffalo Bills v New England Patriots

One of the main themes of the 2010-2011 NFL season has been the loss and changing of many quarterbacks across the NFL. From Big Ben in the off-season to a change in Carolina, to injuries in Detroit, the NFL quarterback saga has been one of note only three games into the season.

And with Trent Edwards on the market, look for many teams to bite.Edwards wasn’t able to win the starting job in Buffalo this year, but they may not be as bad as it sounds. First off, the team has a very lackluster offensive line, and the weapons on the outside are anything but statisfying for a quarterback.

Second, he was facing a new head coach and offense, something that doesn’t cater to a guy who needs and likes consistency and time to develop.

Edwards was at one point viewed as a steal in the draft, being a 2nd year starter after being a 3rd round pick from Stanford. He played very well in 2008, but by 2009, the team was already in disarray.

Now, he’s been put on waivers, which was probably the best thing for him to get a chance to move on, and the Bills to maybe get the best team for Edwards.

Teams like the Jaguars, Chiefs, Raiders, and Rams as possible landing spots for him, with him getting a chance to step in as a very solid number two option. He isn’t worth more than a 6th or 7th round conditional pick at this point, but he can provide some stability as a veteran yet still young option at quarterback.

Both Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen have already said they’d be “shocked” to see him pass the waiver deadline at 4:00 PM EST today. So news of Edwards’s new team could be coming at any moment.
