The Vikings Are Running Out Of Receivers
Added on Aug 24, 2010 by Scott in
Ever since old man Favre returned to the Vikings, things have gone from bad to worse in Minnesota. First, second-year wideout Percy Harvin was hospitalized for severe migraines. Now comes word that Sidney Rice has undergone hip surgery and will be sidelined until at least mid-season. That karma can be a real bitch, eh?
The timetable for Harvin’s return is undetermined. He’s barely practiced this summer and could miss the season opener if his symptoms don’t subside. As for Rice, well, hip surgery is no joke. Why he waited this long to go under the knife when he’s been suffering for months is strange. It’s possible he was prepared to sit out for an extended period of time if Favre stayed away. He’s not happy about his contract, so not wanting to risk further injury to the hip could’ve been on his mind. Who knows?
One thing is crystal clear: the Vikings are losing needed playmakers. On top of that, Favre still has a gimpy ankle. At this point, expecting him and the passing offense to repeat last season’s 33 touchdowns is unrealistic. Adrian Peterson better be ready to run because he might be staring at 30 carriers per game for a while. Fantasy owners take note.
