Rodney Harrison Bashes Gronk

Sounding like the old man down the street who keeps yelling at kids to stay off his lawn, ex-Patriots safety and current NBC talking head Rodney Harrison disapproves of Rob Gronkowski’s post-Super Bowl defeat partying on Sunday night. Harrison, who prides himself in being old school, believes players should be wallowing in sorrow after losing the game of their lives, not jumping around on a dance floor shirtless.

When the topic was broached in a radio interview yesterday, Harrison didn’t hesitate to offer his opinion.

“I guarantee you this, if Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Larry Izzo, Richard Seymour, or myself had been at that party, (Gronkowski) probably would have got his head rung,” said Harrison, who lost two Super Bowls, as a Patriot in 2008 and a Charger in 1995. “There’s no reason for that to happen.”

Well, using Harrison’s logic, he wouldn’t have been at the party in the first place because a party isn’t the place to be after losing a Super Bowl. Right? Yes, as Harrison went on to explain.

“When we lost the Super Bowl, any of my Super Bowl losses, I was so devastated, the last thing I ever wanted to do was party, let alone dance or take off your shirt,” Harrison added. “It’s just immaturity. It’s not right. He made a mistake, and I’m sure he feels absolutely stupid about it at this point.”

Forget the awful Dance Fever routine or the fact that Gronkowski (and other Pats players) was shirtless. The most pressing issue here is Gronk springing up and down like a pogo stick on a supposed bum ankle. An ankle that was injured to such a degree it prevented him from taking the field for most of the fourth quarter.

Maybe it was alcohol or adrenaline, or a combination of the two that turned the big tight end into a dancing fool, but he didn’t look “hurt” while moshing. That’s what Harrison should be upset about, not a 22-year-old getting his party on.
