Red Raider vs Cougers Preview

The most exciting game of the weekend in college football has the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road to take on the Houston Cougars and both of these teams can put up points in a matter of seconds.
Texas Tech comes in with a 2-1 record and is always amongst the highest scoring college football teams in the nation. So far this season they are only putting up 39 points and 473 yards per game but are working in a new quarterback and should add on to that as the season progresses.
Houston’s offense has had some of the most prolific years in college football history and comes into this Saturday Texas matchup with a 2-0 record after knocking off top-10 Oklahoma State in their last game. The Cougars are scoring 50 points a game so far this season with 525 yards per game.
These schools used to meet up every year but that came to a halt in 1995. Even back then the two schools were scoring and the winner of the last 6 meetings averaged more than 40 points per game.
The sportsbooks could not decide which of these high-flying offenses deserves to be favored on Saturday and they have made this game a pick ‘em. The betting public appears close to a 50/50 split on which team to bet on and the total has remained steady at 73 which will be one of the highest numbers you’ll see all season long.
Despite all the scoring these two offenses have done this season their respective defenses have done a decent enough job. Texas Tech has done better, however, and are allowing 19 points scored on 268 yards allowed compared to the Cougars who are giving up 21 points on 348.5 yards allowed. Both teams will see their defensive statistics hurting after Saturday of week 4 college football action.
