We’re only two weeks into the fake 2012 season and the bumps and bruises are already beginning to pile up for some rosters. The Packers, for example, had to sit 21 players over the weekend. Of course this isn’t a good sign for entering the real season healthy, but then again, teams like Green Bay know how to overcome injuries and still compete at a high level. Here’s a quick breakdown of who’s in and who’s out at practice fields across the league.

Brian Urlacher (Bears) – Urlacher has been nursing a sore knee for months after electing not to go under the knife in the offseason. Well, the recovery wasn’t going as planned, so today he underwent an arthroscopic procedure that will increase his chances of playing in Week 1. At least that’s what he and the Bears are hoping.

Adrian Peterson (Vikings) – The All-Pro running back is off the PUP list and will reportedly ease his way back into practice over the next three weeks. AP is an athletic freak for sure, but expecting him to look like he did last September would be unrealistic.

Travelle Wharton (Bengals) – A torn ACL in his right knee will prevent the starting guard from playing in 2012. This is bad news for a team that has been hit hard by the injury bug thus far and has lofty expectations entering the season.

Shaun Rogers (Giants)  – A blood clot in his left leg could cause Rogers to miss at least half of the season. Big Blue planned on utilizing the veteran defensive tackle as quality depth along their already stacked front four, but that’s obviously out the window.

Miles Austin (Cowboys)  – Austin is dealing with yet another hamstring problem, the same one that plagued him all of 2011, causing him to miss six games. The ‘Boys need both Austin and Dez Bryant to be healthy and consistent in order to compete in a crowded NFC.

James Starks (Packers)  – The Cedric Benson signing sent a clear message to Starks: get on the field or get ready for the bench. Starks has been bothered by a turf toe all of training camp and his hold on the so-called “number one” back job is in serious jeopardy now that Benson is in the picture.
