Preseason Football is Back!

No disrespect to the Hall of Fame game, but the real preseason begins tonight with six games on the schedule. Of course, the exhibition season never lives up to the hype due to scaled down gameplans executed in large by guys who will be out of a job in three weeks. That being said, there are some players worth keeping a watchful eye on when they take the field this evening.
Redskins @ Bills – Salivating media types and diehard Redskins fans have been waiting for the official unveiling of Robert Griffin III. Well, the wait is over. No rookie faces as much pressure as RG III, so it will be interesting to see how his debut performance is combed over tomorrow morning.
Ravens @ Falcons – With Terrell Suggs likely out for the season, much of the pass rushing slack will be expected to be picked up by first-round pick Courtney Upshaw. Is he ready? Also, is Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones primed to explode in his second season?
Saints @ Patriots – Drew Brees looked sharp as ever in the Hall of Fame game, so bounty scandal aside, the Saints offense should be fine in 2012. What about the defense? Tom Brady and the Pats first-teamers won’t play much, but they usually make scoring points look easy no matter what the calendar says.
Steelers @ Eagles – The Pittsburgh running back rotation and the Philly defensive line/linebackers will be under the microscope. Can Issac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer carry the load? Are Eagles rookies Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks good enough to contribute right away? Stay tuned.
Packers @ Chargers – The Pack are still smarting after flopping in the playoffs and appear poised to take out their frustrations on the rest of the league. Meanwhile, the Chargers are still smarting after another underachieving season and some key free agent departures (Vincent Jackson, Mike Tolbert).
Broncos @Bears – PEYTON MANNING! PEYTON MANNING! PEYTON MANNING!
