Like many players that are traded to a new team, New England Patriots’ receiver Chad Ochocinco has to acclimate himself to a new team culture as well as a new city. Never at a loss for unique ideas, Ochocinco has come up with a creative way to get himself situated in the Boston area–he’s going to live with a fan for a few weeks.

Ochocinco has yet to pick the fan, but he’s excited about his unusual living arrangements:

“I’m going to do something different, I’m actually going to stay with a fan for the first two, three weeks of the season. That should be fun, until I get myself acclimated and learn my way around.”

Of course a high paid NFL superstar has his standards:

“I’m not sure how it’s going to work, but they have to have Internet and have to have Xbox. That’s about it.”

Asked if he was serious Ochocinco quipped:

“Have I ever lied to you before?”

Explaining how he finds his way around a new city, Ochocinco explained that he doesn’t use a GPS device or any other navigational aid:

“The way I learn a new city is by traveling out, adventuring out, getting lost on purpose. This past weekend, I was a little frustrated because I was lost for about an hour, an hour and 30 minutes, and I couldn’t get where I needed to. (But) that’s it. Boston, or actually heaven, has been good.”

Ochocinco had praise for his teammates, particularly quarterback Tom Brady and veteran receivers Wes Welker and Deion Branch:

“They’ve probably made it the easiest, with so much verbiage as far as signals and other things in the offense that’s hard for me to get. They have sped up the process to where I think that even with a game being played very soon, I could probably go out there and play at full speed without having to think.”

The Patriots will open the 2011 preseason on Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Pats are a -3′ point favorite with the total set at 35. Ochocinco isn’t expected to see much, if any, playing time nor are the rest of the starters.
