It’s a battle of teams with banged up quarterbacks in ‘Music City USA’ as the Tennessee Titans host the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday NFL betting action.  The Titans are off an almost effortless victory over a pitiful Jacksonville team, while the Eagles are off a home win over Atlanta.  The Eagles will all but certainly start backup Kevin Kolb, while the Titans say starting QB Vince Young is a game time decision.

Even without Michael Vick in the lineup, the ‘public’ continues to overvalue this Philadelphia Eagles team that is horribly coached and banged up on both sides of the ball.  Kolb will start and against quality defenses he’ll actually an upgrade from Vick.  Vick has shown remarkable restraint in his decision making this year, but he’s not faced any top level opponents.  The Eagles already had an offensive line decimated by injury including the loss of starting center Jamaal Jackson and no shortage of injuries in the ‘skill positions’ as well.  Add to that list WR DeSean Jackson (out with a concussion) and another offensive line causality, pro bowl tackle Jason Peters.  Throw in some more injuries to a rebuilding defense including DT Broderick Bunkley and the Eagles are one banged up team.

Tennessee may have Vince Young back in the lineup for this game, but if not Kerry Collins is a perfectly suitable short term solution.  Most of the other names that popped up on the Titans injury report following the Monday night contest–most significantly running back Chris Johnson–have been upgraded to ‘probable’.  The Eagles are ranked #22 in rushing defense, and you saw what the Titans did to a statistically better rushing defense against Jacksonville on Monday.  Since 2008, the Eagles are only 5-6 ATS as an underdog and 4-5 ATS in non conference games.  The Titans, meanwhile, catch the Eagles in one of their strongest pointspread situations–since 1992 Jacksonville is a remarkable 17-5 ATS as a home favorite of -3 or less and an equally impressive 14-4 ATS against the NFC East.  They’ve also won *ten straight* non conference games going 7-1-2 against the spread.

Titans are on a ‘short week’ having played on Monday night, but the Eagles are still the more banged up team.  Tennessee doesn’t play fancy football, but they’ll be able to beat the Eagles the same way they took care of Jacksonville on Monday by leveraging their superior rushing attack.
