Sunday NFL betting features a matchup between the 6-2 New York Jets and the scrappy Cleveland Browns.  Cleveland still doesn’t have much talent, but they’ve made the most with what they have and enter this game with a 3-5 record.  They’ve won two straight games, both impressive upsets over New Orleans and New England.

The Jets are off a pair of sketchy efforts, but this is a good matchup for them to post an impressive victory.  Credit to rookie quarterback Colt McCoy, who has been very impressive so far but the Browns’ offense really doesn’t have many weapons.  We like power running back Peyton Hillis, but he’ll have a target on his back from a Jets’ defense that excels at stopping the run.  The New York defense is as healthy as they’ve been all season and that’s bad news for a Browns’ secondary that lacks a wide receiver worth even mentioning in the same breath as Darrelle Revis.

New York is due for a strong effort and they’ve got added motivation here since the man on the Cleveland sidelines is former Jets’ coach Eric Mangini.   Mangini’s defensive coordinator is Rex Ryan’s twin brother, Rob.  The two coaches have exchanged good natured barbs back and forth this week–mostly dealing with each other’s weight.  Less amused are the New York players, many of whom were happy to see Mangini go.  Playful barbs aside, the incestuous relationship between the coaching staffs make this a very important game.  The Browns benefited as much from opponent turnovers during their two game winning streak (New Orleans and New England combined for 7) as much as their own strong play.  They won’t sneak up on the Jets, and we look for New York to win and cover this small road favorite price.
