NFL Betting Picks: Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens
Added on Nov 03, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
More NFL football betting for this weekend as the Miami Dolphins head to the ‘Charm City’ to take on the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore is tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the AFC Central lead at 5-2, while Miami is in third place in the AFC East despite a decent 4-3 record. Miami won at Cincinnati last weekend while the Ravens are coming off a bye.

The Dolphins don’t have a lot of skill position players on offense. Baltimore has a more proficient rushing attack but in many ways these teams are mirror images of one another. They don’t do anything fancy, they just beat you up from game to game. Miami may be the most physical team in the NFL. That’s a good quality, of course, but unless you’ve got players to score points and make plays that’ll take you just so far. But we’re not asking Miami to win the Superbowl here–just stay competitive in a game against a team without a lot of big play weapons on offense themselves.
Baltimore will get Donte Stallworth back for this game (he’s listed as ‘questionable’ but every indication is that he’ll play) but that really doesn’t change our handicap. Miami is an easy team to forget about but this is a matchup in which they can be competitive for the full 60 minutes and possibly pull the outright upset. Miami has gone 4-0 SU on the road this year and have been a great investment on the road in recent years compiling a 14-5 ATS mark in away games since 2008. They’ve also covered in 10 of their last 11 spots as an underdog. This will likely be an ‘ugly’ game and in that sort of the matchup we love the gritty Dolphins getting more than a field goal.
