Kenny Britt Could Miss Significant Time With Hamstring Injury

A week ago Kenny Britt was the toast of the NFL after annihilating the Eagles secondary for 200-plus yards and three touchdowns. Now he’s staring at the possibility of missing significant time after hearing his hamstring pop in the first quarter of Tennessee’s loss to the Chargers. The bye week will provide extra time for the injury to heal, however, the worst case scenario could end Britt’s season.
Further tests have been scheduled on the hamstring which should reveal the extent of the damage. If it’s torn, Britt will likely be forced to shut it down. At the very least, he’ll probably be absent from the lineup for a few weeks, which will leave an already undermanned receiving corps even thinner.
The emergence of Britt has finally provided the offense with a consistent downfield threat. Prior to Sunday, he had scored in five consecutive games and led the team in receptions and receiving touchdowns. Needless to say, his playmaking ability will be missed.
With Chris Johnson seeing more and more eight-man fronts, someone will have to fill Britt’s role if the Titans want to continue their recent success. The leading candidate will be Nate Washington, who delivered his best performance in Britt’s absence on Sunday by catching four passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Other candidates include rookie Damian Williams and third-year man Lavelle Hawkins.
