Fantasy Football: Week 12 Value Picks
Added on Nov 23, 2011 by Scott in
The fantasy regular season is quickly coming to a close. Those owners fortunate enough to be sitting pretty for a spot in the playoffs should be strengthening their rosters for the stretch run. Everyone else needs to secure as many wins as possible to increase their chances of vying for a fake championship. The pesky bye weeks are finally gone, but a string of key injuries are causing headaches. Here are some solid options for the all-important Week 12.
Matt Moore (@ DAL) – Injuries to Mike Vick, Jay Cutler and Matt Schaub have left many owners scrambling for help under center. Believe it or not, the lowly Dolphins have won three straight games due in large part to quarterback Matt Moore, who has tossed six of his seven touchdowns in the last three weeks. The Cowboys pass defense has been decent in 2011, although they have yielded 14 scores, and even Rex Grossman posted good numbers against them last week. Moore is far from a sure thing, but he’s safe.
Jonathan Stewart (@ IND) – The Panthers run game has been downright awful outside of Cam Newton. The perfect remedy should be a terrible Colts defense allowing the most points and second most rushing totals in the league. The likes of Ben Tate, Jackie Battle and Mark Ingram have gashed them for big numbers. J-Stew’s carries have been limited, but he’s made up for it with a career high 33 receptions, which is tied for third on the Panthers. Adrian Peterson owners searching for a replacement take heed.
Josh Cribbs (@ CIN) – Through ten games, Cribbs has already set career highs in catches (28) and touchdowns (4). Three of those four scores have been registered in the last four games. On a team severely lacking in playmakers, he is easily the Browns best threat in the passing game. The Bengals secondary really missed cornerback Leon Hall in last week’s loss to Baltimore; rookie Torrey Smith shredded them for 165 yards and a touchdown. If you’re desperate for a receiver, give Cribbs a look.
Jacob Tamme (vs. CAR) – The Colts will likely be playing catch up on Sunday. Whoever plays quarterback will have to throw and throw against a vulnerable Panthers defense. Tamme led the team in catches and yards in Week 10 and with Dallas Clark still nursing a bad leg, he should get plenty of looks. Filling in for Clark a season ago, Tamme notched 67 grabs for 631 yards and four touchdowns. Of course, that was with Peyton Manning tossing the rock, not Curtis Painter. Don’t expect a huge day, but with so few tight ends producing consistently, you could do worse.
Falcons D/ST (vs. Vikings) – It’s going to be a long Sunday for the Vikings without AP in the backfield. Rookie Christian Ponder is prone to turnovers and the rabid Georgia Dome crowd won’t be very accommodating. Atlanta’s defense is far from dominant, but they do play better at home and have picked off eleven passes.
