Fantasy Football: Week 11 Value Picks
Added on Nov 17, 2011 by Scott in
After an inexplicable one-week hiatus the byes are back for Week 11. The good news is they are gone baby gone after that, which will make all those fantasy owners with playoff aspirations very happy. As we enter the stretch drive of the fantasy football season, wins are at a premium, especially with the Saints, Texans and Steelers taking the week off. Finding suitable replacements for Brees, Graham, Sproles, Foster, Big Ben, Wallace and the rest will be challenging. Here are some decent options to consider.
Jay Cutler (vs, SD) – Cutler has been average at best in 2011, so recommending him is always a gamble. After all, he’s thrown only 11 touchdowns in nine starts and tossed for a paltry 123 yards a week ago. Statistically, the Chargers rank seventh versus the pass, but don’t let the numbers fool you. They’ve given up seven touchdowns through the air in the last three games and have dropped four in a row. If you own Brees, Schaub or Roethlisberger and are searching for answers, Cutler should be considered.
Brandon Jacobs (vs. PHI) – It appears Ahmad Bradshaw will miss another start with his ailing foot. That once again leaves the running back duties to Jacobs, who rumbled for a tough 55 yards against the stout Niners rush defense in Week 10. The Eagles have been better versus the run in recent weeks, but are still yielding 120 yards on average. In addition, they are 3-6 and beat-up on offense. This should be an easy win for Big Blue which means lots of opportunities for Jacobs, who scored in the September meeting with Philly.
Braylon Edwards (vs. ARZ) – Just because Mike Vick and his broken ribs couldn’t do any damage to the Cardinals suspect secondary doesn’t mean Alex Smith won’t. Now, Bray-Bray has done virtually nothing this season with only 13 catches for 167 yards. He represents a major reach play, but when he finds the end zone for the first time you’ll look like a genius for starting him. Seriously though, give him a look only if you’re desperate.
Kellen Winslow (@ GB) – Winslow has scored his two touchdowns during the last three weeks. He hasn’t been overly impressive, but there’s no doubt the Bucs will have to throw the ball early and often. And the Packers defense is still allowing big production to opposing tight ends. For example, Rams rookie Lance Kendricks caught four for 71 back in Week 6. It’s not unreasonable to think Winslow can do the same.
Jaguars D/ST (@ CLE) – Believe it or not, Jacksonville ranks fourth in points and sixth in total yards allowed. By contrast, Cleveland’s offense ranks 29th and 30th in scoring and yards, respectively. This will be an ugly game between two ugly teams. In fact, if you can’t land the Jags, grab the Browns D/ST. Both are excellent options.
