Fantasy Football: Sit ‘Em Week 4

Quarterback
Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have vastly improved their offense this season with the addition of Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the passing game and up and coming running back Ray Rice coming out of the backfield, but Joe Flacco and the revamped offense will be put to the test in Week 4 in the AFC North showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With the Pittsburgh Steelers defense back to form, the Baltimore Ravens offense will almost certainly struggle to put points on the board, much like the way they did against the New York Jets in Week 1.
If you have another dependable QB on your fantasy team, I would suggest that you bench Joe Flacco for Week 4.
Running Back
Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Even though Ray Rice is a fantasy football stud when he is healthy and on his game, the young Ravens running back has been banged up over the past couple of weeks and will be in for a long day against the lockdown defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.
Not only will Rice be limited by the Steelers defense this week, but he might not get that many carries as the Ravens try to minimize the risk of injury to the Pro Bowl running back.
Wide Receiver
Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers might have had high hopes of making a run at the playoffs this season with Matt Moore under center, but things haven’t panned out they way they had hoped as Moore has been benched in favor of rookie Jimmy Clausen and the offense has been just awful to say the least.
In Week 4, the winless Carolina Panthers will face off against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and Steve Smith and the offense will almost certainly struggle against their defense.
Tight End
Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles
This Sunday in Philly will be all about Donovan McNabb coming back, but there are some other things to consider in terms of fantasy football and just who to start and sit in this NFC East battle.
Obviously, Michael Vick is a no-brainer these days to have as a starting quarterback on your fantasy team, but the new Eagles gunslinger hasn’t really built any chemistry with Celek and therefore his fantasy value has dropped off considerably.
Defense
San Francisco 49ers
Coming into this NFL regular season, the San Francisco 49ers defense was thought to be amongst the best in the league, but with the offense struggling as much as they have in the first three weeks of the season, the defense never has time to rest and as a result they have been ineffective.
In Week 4, the 49ers will face off against Drew Brees and company and that sounds like a recipe for disaster in my opinion.
