The Minnesota Vikings came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of contending for a Super Bowl title as they had relatively the same team intact from last year and most importantly, three-time NFL MVP quarterback Brett Favre under center for one last season in the spotlight.

Unfortunately, this season hasn’t gone the way this team had anticipated as the Minnesota Vikings will come into Week 14 with just five wins on the year and no hope of contending for a playoff spot in the NFC Conference.

Despite no longer being playoff contender in the NFC Conference, the Minnesota Vikings have started to come on strong as of late as they have won two straight games against the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills, but the health of starting quarterback Brett Favre is in serious question right now as he suffered a shoulder injury on the first play of the game last weekend that sent him to the sidelines.

With Favre out for the count, the Vikings turned to backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson to take the reigns and that he did by leading this once potent offense to their highest scoring total of the season with 38 points.

Even though Tarvaris Jackson was able to throw for two touchdowns to Pro Bowl wideout Sidney Rice, the backup QB still threw three interceptions and showed that he still has a ways to go before he can fill the shoes of future Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

Superstar running back Adrian Peterson picked up the slack though as he rushed for over a 100 yards and three touchdowns, but Tarvaris Jackson might be worth picking up this week as he could eventually take over the top spot under center if Brett Favre’s shoulder keeps him out.

Personally, if you already have a solid starter like Drew Brees, Tom Brady or Philip Rivers then Tarvaris Jackson would be a great option as a legitimate backup, but counting on him being your starter is a bit of a stretch.
