Fantasy Football: Is Matthew Stafford a Fantasy Stud?

The Detroit Lions have shown this season that they could quite possibly be the team of the future as they have perhaps the most talented young core of players in the league today led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, rookie running back Jahvid Best and wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

These three players alone are enough to get excited about this team as they have the ability to turn this offense into one of the most potent in the league, but there is no doubt that they still have a ways to go before they can be considered a force to be reckoned in the NFC Conference.

Last week the Detroit Lions went head to head against the Washington Redskins in what was sure to be a tough matchup for this young team, but the one thing they had going for them was the fact that they would finally get their starting quarterback back in Matthew Stafford. Even though Stafford had still yet to prove himself in this league, the Lions were confident that he was the missing piece to the puzzle and they were right as he had arguably the best game of his NFL career.

With 212 passing yards and four touchdowns, Matthew Stafford proved to his doubters that he is for real and ready to take this team to the next level with the help of his favorite target in wide receiver Calvin Johnson. It still remains to be seen whether or not Stafford’s shoulder will be able to hold up for the rest of the NFL regular season, but he definitely opened everyone’s eyes in Week 8 with a dominant performance.

If you are thin at quarterback and with all the injuries to quarterbacks around the league you just might be, Matthew Stafford is a must pickup this week as he will almost certainly to continue to put up big numbers this season with Calvin Johnson at his disposal.
