There have been a lot of players over the history of the NFL that have been considered Ironmen and extremely tough as they have the unique ability to play through pain and continue to put up big numbers. There is no question the one player that everyone thinks about when talking about toughness in the NFL is the Minnesota Vikings three-time NFL MVP quarterback Brett Favre.

No matter what injury Brett Favre has had over the past 20 years with the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings, the Silver Fox has always been a sure thing to be under center week in and week out for his football team.

As of right now, the future Hall of Fame quarterback has the NFL record for consecutive starts with 313, but that untouchable record looks to be in serious jeopardy as Brett Favre looks like he might end up watching from the sidelines this Sunday with two fractures in his ankle when the Minnesota Vikings head to Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Patriots.

Even though Brett Favre would be crazy enough to lace up with a broken ankle against the New England Patriots, early reports this week have Tavaris Jackson ready to take over under center this Sunday in an attempt to lead the Minnesota Vikings to their third win of the season.

Obviously, there are still a few more days before the Minnesota Vikings make a final decision on Brett Favre’s playing status, but for the first time in the future Hall of Famer’s time in the NFL, the safe bet would be to expect Tavaris Jackson to be taking the snaps against Bill Belichick’s squad.

In my opinion, this might be just what the doctor ordered for the Vikings as they have been in desperate need of turning things around and even though Jackson is the unlikely choice to lead this team to victory, he may be the missing piece to the puzzle.
