DeMarcus Ware Thinks Highly of his Coach

If we’re to believe Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, head coach Jason Garrett’s job is safe. Despite back-to-back collapses that knocked Dallas from sole possession of first place in the NFC East, Garrett is receiving nothing but praise from his best defensive player. All-Pro defensive end DeMarcus Ware isn’t about to point a finger of blame at the sidelines. After all, the head coach isn’t responsible for the Cowboys horrid fourth-quarter defense as of late. Right?
According to Ware, his defense just needs to clean up the mental breakdowns and they’ll be fine.
“We should keep playing like we’re playing, but we can’t give up the big plays that we’ve been giving up,” Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware said Wednesday. “It’s not like we’re out there playing with no heart or teams are just beating us really bad. It’s the small mistakes that we’re making. If we eliminate those things we’ll be right where we need to be.”
Funny how those pesky “small mistakes” always seem to cause problems. Of course, if Tony Romo could hit a wide open Miles Austin late in the Sunday night meltdown, Ware wouldn’t have to defend his defense, or his head coach, who he happens to think is a-okay.
“I would say he’s the best head coach in the league because he’s my head coach and he’s the Cowboys’ head coach,” Ware said. “The guys feel even more strongly about him now because he’s sticking with us and we’re sticking with him. We’re still motivating each other to get out there and play our hearts out. When coaches still drive players to play hard that’s what you really want.”
Dallas is lucky they aren’t staring at s four-game losing streak. If not for a Graham Gano overtime miss in Week 11 and a Dan Bailey last-second field goal on Thanksgiving, the Boys’ playoff hopes would be on life support. They travel to Tampa on Sunday in what amounts to one of those ‘must-win’ games.
