Charles Woodson Agrees to Extension with Packers

As the Tom Brady extension saga (that really is a waste of a new story, because it’s only a matter of when in the next few days), we get a new extension on a prime player for a Conference Title contender.
The Green Bay Packers have agreed to a two year extension with cornerback Charles Woodson. While the terms of the deal have not been fully disclosed yet, the two year extension will keep him in Green Bay, in theory, for the next five years.
Now while he’s not completely past his prime, his days among the top 5 cornerbacks in the league are all but gone. And while he’s still an above average starter and will be viewed much higher this year with Al Harris out for the year, it’d be a stretch to see him in an NFL uniform for the next five years, nonetheless with the Packers.
Still, it’s important, especially for the Packers who have tons of excess cap room, to lock up and keep happy maybe their most important defensive player if they hope to not only make the playoffs, but challenge for a Super Bowl berth.
