The Philadelphia Eagles’ ‘dream team’ season is swirling down the toilet, but Andy Reid isn’t placing blame on wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson was completely ineffective in the Eagles’ Thursday night loss to the Seattle Seahawks being limited to four catches for 34 yards. Reid refused to throw his player under the bus–specifically, he responded to a TV shot of a downtrodden Jackson sitting alone on the bench which lead to accusations that his ‘head wasn’t in the game’. Reid denies this allegation:

“You can take a camera and make it look any way you want to make it look. I am telling you, that kid was all in last night and wanted to win that game as much as anybody.”

Reid also addressed allegations that there was personal ‘heat’ between quarterback Vince Young and Jackson:

“There was nothing on the sidelines, no commotion with him and Vince. There is nothing there. Nothing.”

“I am not sure they know who’s talking to who and so on and what the conversation is about. Not knowing the language, I don’t know how you are able to go into that stuff … This is petty stuff.”

Reid’s final word on Jackson:

“That kid was all in and I was very proud of him.”

Reid was also asked about a statement by Eagles’ offensive lineman Evan Mathias after the game. Mathias said:

“It’s ridiculous to have this much talent and be where we are.”

To which Reid responded:

“I don’t care about all that. I just care the kid goes out and plays.”

The Eagles hoodwinked the entire NFL fanbase and sports betting community, who gushed before the season that they were a ‘dream team’ which would breeze into the playoffs and be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Instead Philadelphia is 4-8 and head coach Andy Reid is on the hotseat. The Eagles have already reached a dubious NFL betting status–along with the Indianapolis Colts they are one of only two NFL teams that cannot reach their pre season O/U win total. Both teams were set at 10 wins this season and the Eagles took a good deal of money on the ‘Over’.
