NBA betting on Tuesday night takes us to Dallas, Texas where the Mavericks will host the Golden State Warriors in a Western Conference battle.  The Mavericks are the hottest team in the league at the moment having won 9 straight games but they’re still a game behind the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division.  The Warriors have shown some improved defense this season but enter on a 3 game losing streak with a 2-8 record in their last 10 games.

An important component of successful sports handicapping is knowing when its time to abandon a concept that has been successful in the past.  We’ve gone against the Dallas Mavericks a few times at home this season based on their abysmal ATS record at the American Airlines Arena in recent years.  Dallas is 4-5 ATS at home, but we’re starting to think that we’ve got all of the profit out of the concept.  This isn’t to say that there won’t be opportunities to play against Dallas at home, but rather that  the days where simply betting against the Mavs every time they took the home floor are likely over.

Right now we’d rather be aboard the Mavericks’ freight train and not in front of it.  Dallas has won 9 straight games going 7-2 ATS.  Since Halloween Night they’re 11-4-2 against the number and are facing a Golden State team that doesn’t match up well with them.  At this point, the Warriors don’t match up well with many teams and they’ll continue to suffer ‘growing pains’ while new coach Keith Smart tries to make them a better team defensively without all of the personnel he needs to make it effective.  Golden State is giving up nearly 7 PPG less than they did last year, but they’re also scoring 7 PPG fewer than they did last season.  For that reason it’s going to be an ugly year for Golden State and particularly when they take on the Western Conference elite.  Warriors have only covered 3 of their last 10 and recent history doesn’t bode well for them here–they lost all four matchups with Dallas last season by 8 or more and the Mavs are better this season.  Dallas wins by double digits which will cash our ticket.
