NBA Betting Picks: Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic

At the top of the sports betting docket for Sunday is what sports announcer types call a ‘potential NBA Finals preview’ as the Los Angeles Lakers head to Florida to take on the Orlando Magic. The Magic are in a fight for second place in the Southeast Division with the Atlanta Hawks while trying to keep pace with the division leading Miami Heat. Out West, the Lakers are in cruise control in the Pacific with a 10 1/2 game lead over second place Phoenix.

The Lakers sure look like they’re trying to make a statement on their 7 games road trip. They’ve won and covered the first four away games in this stretch against New Orleans, Memphis, Boston and New York. The victory over the Knicks was especially impressive–it was the second of a back to back spot and coming off a big win against the Celtics. Despite the media writing them off, L.A. has been quietly taking care of business since the first of the year winning 15 of their last 20 SU. They’ve gone through stretches where they haven’t been a good NBA betting investment but in this game we just need them to get the SU win.

Orlando has plenty of talent, but since their big trade they’ve still not looked like they’ve got the kinks worked out yet. They’ve lost 6 of their L10 SU and are just 7-10-1 ATS in their last 18 games. The Lakers are playing great defense and Kobe Bryant is regaining his form. This looks like another ‘statement’ spot for the defending champs and we’ll pick them to get the outright win here.
