NBA Betting Odds: Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets
Added on Feb 12, 2011 by Jack Thurman in
Sportsbooks have plenty of basketball betting action on the board for Saturday and we’ll take a look at a Texas NBA rivalry between the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. Dallas struggled with Dirk Nowitski out of the lineup but since his return they’ve recovered their form and have the third best record in the Western Conference. Houston has been behind the 8 ball for much of the season and are 4.5 games out of the 8th and final playoff spot in the conference.

The Mavs haven’t been a great basketball betting proposition this season but at this price we just need them to get the SU win. Dallas coming off a tough loss at Denver which broke a 9 game winning streak and even with the defeat they’ve won 10 of their L12. They’ve also covered 7 of their last 10 games. The Rockets are coming off an upset loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and will have four days off but haven’t done much more than tread water of late with a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. Houston has been very poor defensively this season–they rank #24 in scoring defense allowing 104.8 PPG. The Mavs, meanwhile, are #7 in that category giving up 95.2 PPG.
Dallas has been one of the best road teams in the league this season going 17-8 SU/16-9 ATS away from home. Houston isn’t a particularly good home team (14-12) and are 1-4 SU/ATS this season as a home dog of less than 3 points. The Mavs won the only two meetings so far this season–both were at home but since they play just as well on the road we’ll back them here.
