NBA Betting Odds: Charlotte Bobcats at Indiana Pacers
Added on Feb 08, 2011 by Jack Thurman in
A pair of Eastern Conference teams with losing records face off on Wednesday night as the Indiana Pacers host the Charlotte Bobcats. The Pacers are in 2nd place in the Central Division, though that sounds a lot better than it really is–they trail the first place Chicago Bulls by 12 1/2 games. The Bobcats have been playing better since Paul Silas took over as head coach, but are well off the pace set by Orlando, Miami and Atlanta in the Southeast.

The NBA odds for this game have the Pacers installed as a -4′ point home favorite and that’s understandable based on the recent form of the two teams. The Bobcats have lost 4 of their last 6 games, while the Pacers have won 4 of their last 6. When you look at the specifics of these wins and losses, however, Charlotte’s run doesn’t look as bad and the Pacers’ run doesn’t look as good. The Bobcats four losses were on the road to the Clippers and Jazz and at home against Dallas and Miami. Indiana’s wins were against New Jersey twice, hapless Cleveland and an injury riddled Portland team in the middle of an extended road trip.
The Bobcats are coming off an impressive home win against Boston on Monday night, while Indiana will be returning home after a solid effort on the road against Miami last night where the Pacers lost by 5 to the Heat though easily covered the spread as +11 underdogs. This would be a natural letdown spot anyway, and if they’re suffering any fatigue that’ll make things even tougher for them against the defensively tenacious Bobcats. Charlotte has covered 9 of the L12 meetings between the teams in Indianapolis and we’ll look for them to pull the outright upset here.
