Raymond Felton

The New York Knicks are a much improved team over last season, with Amare Stoudamire playing at a MVP level.  They’ll try to break a 3 game SU losing streak on the road as they head to Texas to take on the Houston Rockets.  The Rockets have won two straight but are still in the Southwest Conference basement.  Current NBA odds on this game have the Rockets listed as a -3 point home favorite with the total set at 218′.

The Rockets have won two straight, but we’re not interpreting that as a ‘buy’ sign for a team that has struggled for much of the season.  Before these victories, the Rockets had lost 8 of 10 SU and covered only 1 of 11 games.  The fact that the victories came over an offensively challenged Milwaukee team and an inconsistent Atlanta team further negates their significance in the big picture.   Knicks are a legit team now–Amare Stoudamire gets most of the ink but the unsung hero of the team is point guard Raymond Felton.  Between them, they’re almost impossible to stop in coach Mike D’Antoni’s pick and roll schemes.

New York has a winning 12-9 SU mark on the road this season, and they’ve been even better against the pointspread away from Madison Square Garden covering a remarkable 16 of 21 games.  They’re also 16-4-1 ATS when getting points and 12-6 ATS in non-conference play.  As a road dog in this price range (3 points or less) they’re a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS.  They’ve got a day off before a pair of back to back games against San Antonio and Oklahoma City and this is a chance for them to lock in what may be the only victory of this trip.
