Lots of basketball on the board tonight but the recent spate of injuries limits our NBA betting opportunities.  At one point, you could get ahead of the bookmaker on injury info but in the Internet era sportsbooks are much quicker to identify and adjust the line.  In any case, we’ve got a decent play where we’re getting a team that typically performs well at home against needing a win against an opponent that struggles on the road.

Toronto Raptors at Milwaukee Bucks
January 20, 5:05 PM Pacific

We’ve gone against the Bucks on the road quite a bit recently, and that’s with good reason as they’re only 4-6 SU in their last 10 games.  They’ve just gone through a grueling road schedule and have been trying to compensate for the loss of leading scorer Michael Redd who is out for the season. There’s a lot of upside in Milwaukee including a sharp, defensive minded coach in Scott Skiles and some quality talent including Andrew Bogut.  Bogut is an especially important  component of this handicap since Toronto lacks a big man in the middle to defend him.

Raptors played a tough game at Cleveland last night, and could be somewhat flat here.  This is one of those ‘quick rematch’ sequences so the Raptors will get Milwaukee on their home floor on Friday night.  If things work out, we may look to go the other way in that game but in this spot we’re going to back the Bucks.  Raptors are 11-17 ATS as an underdog and 10-13 ATS on the road.  Bucks are a respectable 11-7 SU/10-8 ATS at the Bradley Center  and they’ve covered 5 of 6 against the Atlantic Division this year.  They’ve won and covered 3 of the L4 against Toronto including a 23 point victory in late December.  Look for the Bucks to win and cover here and set up a play on the Raptors in the ‘rematch’ game on Friday.

Bet Milwaukee -2′ over Toronto
