NBA Basketball Betting Picks: Indiana @ Philadelphia
Added on Jan 25, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Back after a Sunday without much action in the sportsbooks other than the two NFL conference championship games. We’ll get back to work with NBA betting as we take a look at the Indiana Pacers/Philadelphia 76ers game. This is a ‘quick rematch’ from a Saturday night game in Indianapolis won by the Sixers 107-97. Tonight the action moves to the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia:

Typically, its something of a conventional wisdom among sports handicappers to play the other way in the second game of these ‘quick rematch’ situations. With the Sixers winning and covering the first game on the Pacers’ home floor, we’ll look for Indiana to return the favor in Philadelphia. Basically, we’re always happy to go against the Sixers at home as they’ve got one of the worst home records against the spread in the entire NBA. Philadelphia is 5-16 ATS at home and 5-11 ATS as a favorite. Pacers YTD road record both SU and ATS isn’t much to write home about either, but they’ve been a good investment lately covering 7 of their L11. With the overall mediocrity of the Eastern Conference both Philly and Indiana still have a legitimate shot at a playoff spot should they go on a decent winning run.
Indiana has controlled this series in recent years, with a 5-3 SU mark over the past three years (5-2-1 ATS). At Philadelphia, the Pacers have won 3 of the L4 meetings with a 3-0-1 ATS mark. With the home struggles of the Sixers it gives us all the more reason to go along with the ‘quick rematch’ scenario and look for the Pacers to win outright.
