Josh Smith Ready For Game 2

The Atlanta Hawks chances to seize a 2-0 lead in their series versus Orlando will improve with news that forward Josh Smith is expected to play despite a bruised left elbow. Smith underwent treatment the last two days and was able to practice, which should, barring any setbacks, allow him to take the floor. The Hawks won Game 1 103-93 and are looking for a second straight road victory before heading to Atlanta for Game 3.
Smith netted 15 points and grabbed eight boards in Saturday’s win, but his defense on Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu was critical. Turkoglu, known for postseason heroics, was limited to six points on 2-9 shooting. Smith’s ability to keep him off the stat sheet is a major part of head coach Larry Drew’s gameplan.
Smith, who averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for the year, along with guard Joe Johnson and center Al Horford form a dangerous trio of offensive weapons that combined for 56 points in Game 1. Atlanta went 3-1 against Orlando during the regular season with Smith averaging 17.5 and 10.5 rebounds.
