Darren Collison Hopes To Play In Game 3

Pacers point guard Darren Collison is optimistic he’ll be able to take the floor for tonight’s Game 3 against Chicago. He sprained his left ankle in Monday’s Game 2 loss to the Bulls, but was able to participate in this morning’s shootaround. He’s officially listed as a game-time decision. Indiana is desperate for a win, trailing 0-2 in the best of seven series.
Collison knows the ankle isn’t fully healed, but is eager to help his team get a much needed home victory.
“It’s not going to be 100 percent perfect but the more movement I get the better it feels,” Collison said. “I’ll pick my spots. I know where to be aggressive and not to be aggressive, but I’m not really concerned with that. [The Bulls] know you have an ankle injury so they’re going to try to run plays against you. I’m aware of that, and I’ll be prepared for that.”
The second-year guard was sensational in Game 1, scoring 17 points, dishing nine assists and grabbing six rebounds. However, Derrick Rose netted 39 in leading the Bulls to a 104-99 win.
For the Pacers to have any shot of getting back in the series, they’ll need contributions from Collison. His ability to score and distribute is crucial to the offense. If he can’t go, A.J. Price will start in his place.
Indiana has dropped five of six versus Chicago this season, but did defeat them 115-108 in OT the last time they played at Conseco Fieldhouse. Collison had 17 points and eight assists.
