College Basketball Betting Picks: West Virginia @ Villanova
Added on Mar 07, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
College basketball betting will dominate sportsbooks action over the next few weeks and we’ll take a look at a Big East battle for Saturday as their teams wind down the regular season slate and get ready for the conference tournament. Villanova is second in the conference with a 13-4 record and West Virginia is right behind at 12-5. Neither can catch Syracuse for the top seed but clearly every position is important for a more advantageous road through the Big East tournament.

Villanova won the previous matchup between these teams this season, winning by 7 as a +5′ underdog at West Virginia in early February. The Mountaineers are a much more dominant team at home than on the road, so this trip to Philadelphia doesn’t bode well for them. Wildcats are 12-1 SU on their home court this year 8-4 ATS, while West Virginia is only 4-8 against the money on the road. Wildcats are also 15-8 against the spread as a favorite, 10-7 ATS against conference foes and 13-8 ATS against teams with winning records.
The biggest problem for West Virginia, however, is matchup related. The Mountaineers have struggled to defend in the halfcourt all season, and this is something that Villanova was able to exploit to great advantage in their previous victory. It’ll likely be more of the same here. Villanova hasn’t hosted West Virginia since 2008 and they won that game by 22 points. Might not be as much of a blowout this time, but they should do enough to get the victory and the pointspread cover.
