College Basketball Betting Picks: Tennessee @ South Carolina
Added on Feb 20, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Sportsbooks are offering a big card of future march basketball betting action for Saturday and we’ll take a look at a SEC game between Tennessee and South Carolina. The Vols are 19-6 SU while the Gamecocks are 14-11 but both have identical 9-13 ATS records. Tennessee routed South Carolina at home in early February and the Gamecocks will be looking to avenge that loss here.

There may be something of a revenge motive for the Gamecocks from the rout in Knoxville earlier this month, and particularly on South Carolina’s home floor. The Gamecocks are 8-2 SU and 6-4 ATS at the Colonial Life Arena. While neither team has a particularly impressive sports betting pointspread profile the South Carolina home mark is one of the few profitable pointspread situations enjoyed by either team.
And that’s really the basis for this handicap. Tennessee has been a money burner against the spread all season, but they’ve been particularly bad on the road (2-5 ATS) and in conference play (3-8 ATS). Not that the Gamecocks have been any better in conference play with a 4-7 ATS mark but in a matchup between two ‘go against’ teams we’ll go with the one that doesn’t need to do anything but win the game to cash our ticket. Vols do have some injury issues and have a big showdown against Florida in Gainesville on deck. Gamecocks have been undervalued by the linesmaker all season and while they’ve admittedly underacheived this looks like a good spot for them to pull out the win and at the price that’s all we need them to do.
